Description
CACTC is a comprehensive high school within the Connellsville
Area School District, providing core academic courses
to 11th and 12th grade students who attend the school
all day. In conjunction with the 14 Career & Technical
programs offered, English, Math, Physical Education/Health,
Social Studies and Science are taught. 10th grade students
receive technical training on a half day basis, receiving
their academic courses at the district's Senior High School.
The CTC uses a teaching/learning method known as competency
based that allows students to progress at their own pace
to acquire skills necessary to be successful in their
chosen field. Our program areas follow the Programs of
Study (POS) educational plan which is designed for the
college-bound student who wishes to continue education
at colleges and technical schools across the country,
enter directly into the workforce, or join the military.
Students may qualify for college credit for work completed
while in high school allowing them to finish degree/certification
requirements in less time and for less money. POS programs
prepare today's student for High Priority Occupations
(HPO) which include career categories that are in high
demand by employers, have higher skill needs, and are
most likely to provide family sustaining wages. Programs:
Auto Collision, Auto Mechanics, Carpentry, Computer Networking,
Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Electrical Occupations, Electronic
Technology, Health Occupations, HVAC, Marketing, Masonry,
Protective Services, and Welding. |
